mexico natrual gas pipelinesA subsidiary of IEnova, Gasoducto de Aguaprieta, was awarded a tender by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) worth a U$147.5 million investment to construct a natural gas pipeline San Isidro-Samalayuca in the state of Chihuahua.  IEnova is the Mexican operating unit of Sempra Energy.

According to CFE, the natural gas transportation contract for the San Isidro to Samalayuca will save CFE 26% of their planned budget of U$200 million, saving an estimated at U$53 million.

The pipeline will enter into commercial operation in January 2017 and will have capacity of 1.23Bm3/d.

CFE received four other technically qualified bids from:

  1. Carso Electric, S.A. de C.V. y Promotora del Desarrollo de América Latina, S.A. de C.V.
  2. Fermaca SS, S. de R.L. de C.V.
  3. Gasoducto de Aguaprieta, S. de R.L. de C.V.
  4. Transportadora de Gas Natural de Zacatecas S.A. de C.V., Distribuidora de Gas Natural México, S.A. de C.V., Distribuidora de Gas Natural Noroeste, S.A. de C.V., Gas Natural Industrial, S.A. de C.V. y Gas Natural del Noroeste, S.A. de C.V.
