mexico onshore drilling energy reform bidding investments round oneJuan Carlos Zepeda Molina, Commissioner of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH), recently confirmed that the third session of bidding on Round One includes 24 contracts of mature fields onshore.

The third bidding session for onshore oil and gas blocks is set to take place in December 2015 and includes the Burgos fields, North and South. Within this are the fields of Carreta, Peña Blanca, Mareógrafo, San Bernardo, Benavides, Duna y Calibrador en Nuevo León y Ricos en Tamaulipas.

The third bidding session of Mexico’s Round One has reflected significant interest from Mexican companies. According to Juan Carlos Zepeda Molina, “of the 79 companies who have solicited access to the data rooms, 49 of those companies are Mexican.”

It also appears as though the rules are becoming more flexible in order to attract oil and gas companies to participate in the new bidding sessions.
